More progress...
Bierstadt study with Equestria landscapes.

Going to add color next.

The clouds are going to be the hardest part... UGH.

Before I took a closer look, I thought this was a photo. Your attention to the details closest to the front of the image is incredible, and the sky is especially beautiful. The only real problem I have is the mountains. The shape is fine, very realistic. But the ones on the left side especially, have little to no detail. Save slight shadowing. The trees are beautiful, and look very realistic. And I really do love what you did with Canterlot Castle. The elaborate shapes ad angles were captured perfectly in this image. And I really like how you painted both a closer, and farther away angle. I thoroughly enjoyed this piece.

Hey there!,

Argh, I hope that didn't go though, my computer is being weird anyway I am going to attempt my first critique, and your art is more than amazing so, lets start.

When I first saw this I was really speechless, Espically listening to (onerepublic- good life), It reminds me If i was a mile away from canterlot. The artwork is extraordinary, the trees, ground, the sky and canterlot itself on the mountain. It feels like that morning breeze when your in the mountains, Like you can feel that morning dew In the morning If you were camping. I notice the tree's, the mountains, the rocks, the river, the sky are in really great detail. There is much more on the bottom. However It looks like the bottom is a picture view: from those two trees by the left of river but canterlot is much more farther away. The trees have really great shading as If light is coming from the left as If it was either morning, or there is a storm brewing. The ground is really amazing, on the bottom! Details like those rocks show the view From the lighting of the sunlight and the darkness. The sky looks like there is a bit of haze from a distance, really great if your going to add color. For one I'm not really good with what's really a mile away from canterlot, only the train the mane 6 took, as I remember, But still this is really astonishing. The river stands out the most to me, great reflection from the ground and the mountains. On the bottom picture, I love water, the movement is really interesting. (I can't really tell however; my eyes are blah), but the river seems to go off to canterlot, which is really awesome! The shading on the river is really good, Still having reflection from the sunlight! (If I were to be in this, I'd have a feeling like whoa! Like When Simba sees the scenery from Timon and pumba." Just that breathtaking gasp", The bottom picture is very unique. However it's like a ghost town, It be amazing if there was a pony. But thats my opinion. All in all, it's really good, The opacity, shading, detail, clouds, mountains, brush, rocks, the river, the hills.

There's a lot to it.. I'm just a beginner artist, This is really amazing, and i wish you really great luck with the color!

Where is the top picture in relation to the bottom picture?
CosmicUnicorn Featured By Owner Jul 12, 2012
Earlier in time, I suppose.

They are both the same image... just at different stages of development.
